Katronic at the 47th Harz-Gebirgslauf 2025: An Autumn Sports Highlight
Our company team participated for the 12th time in the popular Harz-Gebirgslauf in Wernigerode
The 47th Harz-Gebirgslauf, one of Germany’s most scenic running events, took place on the second weekend of October 2025. It attracts athletes to the picturesque landscapes of Harz National Park each year. A total of 3 520 people registered by the official deadline, which is the highest number since the anniversary run eight years ago, making this the biggest event yet. Additional on-site registrations brought the total number of athletes to around 4 000.
The first Harz-Gebirgslauf took place on 14 October 1978. Due to its proximity to the former East-West German border at the time, only 300 participants were permitted to take part, despite 1 200 applications having been submitted. Today, the event is a firm fixture in the calendars of many running and hiking enthusiasts. Katronic has maintained this tradition for many years and participated this time with seven runners from among its employees and friends. The disciplines ranged from the 11 km walking route to the more challenging 25 km course.
Unfortunately, the “team sports leader” of Katronic had to switch from the 11 km run to the 25 km walking route at short notice due to a cold, meaning that no one completed the running course this year. Participants were rewarded with a stunning autumn display as they walked through colourful forests and gentle hills, accompanied by fresh, crisp air – a true nature experience!
At the finish line, each hiker received a medal to commemorate completing the course and sharing the experience. For Katronic, the 47th Harz-Gebirgslauf was more than just a sporting event – it symbolised team spirit, commitment and the joy of being in nature.
The team is already looking forward to participating again next year and hopes to inspire even more colleagues to join them in this special experience.
