Clamp-on flowmeters for offshore operations

The demanding measurement requirements and challenging environmental areas found in the offshore sector can often mean that the benefits of a clamp-on flowmeter make this technology the ideal choice. The fluids used in oil extraction and production are often pumped at high pressure and flow velocity making the retrofitting on an invasive flowmeter highly challenging. This is made even more difficult by toxic and hazardous conditions found inside the pipe and the fact that the instruments must be Ex-certified.

Katronic flowmeters offer a series of advantages to our customers in the oil and gas sector.

Katronic flowmeters are simple and cheap to install. In an environment where access to specialist personnel could require helicopter flights, or very long and expensive journeys, having an instrument which is simple to install and commission is a considerable advantage. Anyone with basic technical training should be able to operate a Katronic flowmeter, and we can offer remote assistance via either telephone or the web, to ensure the whole process is as straightforward and inexpensive as possible.

The flow sensors are manufactured from stainless steel, with IP 68 rating as standard. The robust design makes the sensors ideal for operating in offshore environments and areas where aggressive chemicals may be present.

There is no requirement to cut into the pipe when fitting a Katronic clamp-on flowmeter. This means that there is no risk of contamination and no risk of leakage on high pressure pipelines.
