Award Application Runs Out Of Gas – Katronic Narrowly Misses Out on Award Prize

In the face of very strong competition Katronic's latest product development of the gas clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter didn't reach the final of the technology award

Katronic had successfully qualified for the "IQ Innovationspreis Mitteldeutschland", a national competition, and was put forward to the "Cluster Elevator" pitch. The presentations within the Energy/Environment/Solar Economy cluster took place on April 17, 2019 when an independent jury of twelve industry leaders had the responsibility to evaluate the innovations of the six finalists. Our pitch was made by Karsten Frahn who called on his technical expertise in delivering a highly praised presentation. Unfortunately in spite of his excellent work our new clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter for gases KATflow 180 did not make it into the Elevator Pitch final round where the cluster prize winners will compete for the finalist prize.

The project manager of the competition, Hanka Fischer, commented on our performance as follows: "The level of all applicants was very high this year and the jurors did not make it easy for themselves in the final discussion of the applications. It was a difficult decision for the jury because innovations from very different subject areas were presented in the final round. All of them are of equal relevance and each applicant is outstanding in his or her field."

Although we were not ultimately successful we were very proud of the nomination which recognises the huge amount of work and technical innovation that has gone into the new KATflow 180. We wish the finalists well and look forward to the cluster prize winners and overall winners being announced at the award ceremony in the Paulinum of the University of Leipzig in June.
