Awards Success for Katronic

Katronic win 'Manufacturer of the Year Award' at the 2019 Coventry Telegraph Business Awards for the product innovation Gas Clamp-On Ultrasonic Flowmeter

Katronic Technologies were blown away by their success in the annual Coventry Telegraph Business Awards, winning the 'Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharayya Award for Manufacturer of the Year' against stiff competition from other high-tech companies in the region.

Katronic specialise in flow measurement instruments that clamp onto the outside of a pipe, using ultrasound and sophisticated mathematical analysis to measure flow rates without having to break into the pipe, disturb the flow or interrupt the process. The technology is usually applied to liquids, but this Award reflects Katronic's development of the technology to measure gases, a world First that extends clamp-on, non-invasive measurement to low pressure gases - even in metallic pipes, something that had been thought impossible to do.

Researchers at Katronic employed a highly advanced electronic and ultrasonic platform and multi-modal sensors that make use of Lamb waves which significantly increase the effective size of the transducers to multiply the signal strength.

Commenting on the award, Katronic's MD Andrew Sutton said, "I'm really proud of the whole team, both for the innovation that we're highlighting here and the work they do every day to build and apply our technology to support process industries world-wide." He went on, "This area is a real national and international powerhouse for innovative technologies and engineering excellence, and much of that is a tribute to the great man for whom this award is named and who we sadly lost this year. He did so much for manufacturing and engineering throughout the UK, but particularly in Coventry and Warwickshire, and we in technology manufacturing mourn his passing."
