Katronic is supporting ‘Coventry Open Christmas’

‘Coventry Open Christmas’ is a voluntary organisation based in Coventry, run by the ‘Grub & Gab Club’. Translated from the Midlands dialect, this means ‘a meal and a chat’ and emphasises that support can take many forms. They provide a warm, safe place where people can meet, collect much-needed food and clothing, and create a welcoming environment where they can find company and someone to talk to.

The centre in Coventry has been in operation for over 20 years and provides accommodation and meals for homeless and lonely people over the festive period. To put this into figures, they will prepare more than 600 meals as well as additional snacks, and serve over 3,000 cups of tea and coffee during the five nights the centre is open over Christmas.

Our English colleagues at Katronic Technologies Ltd. have made it their mission to fully support this initiative and are therefore asking their customers and partners to contribute. The following items can be donated and handed in at Katronic:

• Bedding: Clean duvets and woollen blankets, sleeping bags, pillows and sheets

• Clothing: Coats, jumpers, fleece jackets, T-shirts, trousers, socks, underwear (new items only, please), hats, gloves and scarves

• Toiletries: Toothbrushes, razors, soap, shower gel, aftershave and shaving foam, towels, washcloths, hygiene products and deodorants

• Food (non-perishable): coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sugar, UHT milk, tinned pumpkin, cakes, minced meat pies, biscuits, crisps, sweets, tinned meat and fish, baked beans, tinned spaghetti, soups, tinned vegetables, custard, breakfast cereals, mustard, gherkins, salt, pepper, cooking oil.

For this appeal, all items will be collected at the Katronic Technologies premises in Coventry and delivered to ‘Coventry Open Christmas’ before the start of the Christmas holidays on 22 December 2023.
