Katronic Supports ‘Coventry Open Christmas’

“Coventry Open Christmas” is a volunteer organization based in Coventry and run by the “Grub & Gab Club.” Translated from the Midlands dialect, this means “food and a chat” and underscores that support can take many forms. They provide a warm, safe place where people can meet, pick up much-needed food and clothing, and create a welcoming environment where they can find companionship and someone to talk to.

The facility in Coventry has been in operation for over 20 years and provides shelter and meals to homeless and lonely people during the holidays. To put this in numbers, they will prepare more than 600 meals as well as additional snacks and serve over 3,000 cups of tea and coffee during the five nights the facility is open over Christmas.

Our English colleagues at Katronic Technologies Ltd. have made it their mission to fully support this initiative and are therefore asking their customers and partners to contribute. The following items can be donated and dropped off at Katronic:

• Bedding: Clean quilts and wool blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, and sheets

• Clothing: Coats, sweaters, fleece jackets, T-shirts, pants, socks, underwear (new items only, please), hats, gloves, and scarves

• Toiletries: Toothbrushes, razors, soap, shower gel, aftershave and shaving cream, towels, washcloths, hygiene products, and deodorants

• Food (non-perishable): coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sugar, UHT milk, pumpkins, cakes, meatloaf, cookies, chips, candy, canned meat and fish, baked beans, canned spaghetti, soups, canned vegetables, pudding, breakfast cereals, mustard, pickles, salt, pepper, cooking oil.

For this donation drive, all items will be collected at the Katronic Technologies facility in Coventry and delivered to “Coventry Open Christmas” before the start of the Christmas break on December 22, 2023.
