45 Minutes of Hard Work: Katronic Supports Pupil in a Charity Run
Exercise, health and working together – these were the causes championed by eight-year-old Christina, a pupil at Francke Primary School in Wernigerode, during the charity run organised by her school. The pupils were asked to find sponsors who would support their sporting achievements with a donation to the school.
Working Together to Promote More Exercise and Sport
Christina approached Katronic with her proposal, and it quickly became clear to us that we would be delighted to support this initiative! After all, physical activity and the joy of sport are vital components of a healthy and active daily life, particularly for children. We are therefore all the more pleased to be able to support Christina’s efforts and, in doing so, contribute to this wonderful initiative. The charity run was planned and organised jointly by the entire teaching staff and the management of Francke Primary School. The event was superbly organised and tailored to the children with great dedication. It was particularly impressive to see the enthusiasm with which the children had sought out their own sponsors in the run-up to the event. To this end, they approached family members, friends and other supporters, thereby taking responsibility themselves for their joint school project.
Due to the weather conditions, the charity run scheduled for 8 October 2026 was brought forward at short notice from 10.15 am to 8.30 am to take advantage of a rain-free window. Despite the last-minute change, more than 163 children from all year groups took part. The running route took them around the school grounds and was laid out so that one lap was 400 metres long. Refreshment stations provided drinks for the children, whilst musical accompaniment provided extra motivation. For Christina, the daughter of a Katronic employee, Katronic had pledged a donation of ten euros per lap run. As an extra incentive, it was agreed that if she kept going for the full 45 minutes, the amount per lap would double. And Christina did it! She ran for the full 45 minutes, completing eleven laps – a total of around 4.4 kilometres. This meant that the initial total of 110 euros became a donation of 220 euros for Francke Primary School. In addition, Christina managed to raise a further 105 euros from family members acting as sponsors, bringing her total to the considerable sum of 325 euros for the school.
The school intends to use the donations to further expand its sports and physical activity programme. Among other things, mini-trampolines are to be purchased, which will be used in future PE lessons and during additional activities. We at Katronic are delighted to have supported Christina in her sporting endeavour. At the same time, we would like to thank all the teaching staff and the management of Francke Primary School for their dedicated preparation, excellent organisation and the children’s fantastic enthusiasm. It was lovely to see just how much joy and enthusiasm the children showed – both during the run itself and whilst seeking out their sponsors. We wish Francke Primary School every joy with the new sports equipment and hope Christina continues to enjoy exercise and sport!
