45 Minutes of Hard Work: Katronic Supports Pupil in a Charity Run
Exercise, health, and community involvement—that’s what eight-year-old Christina, a pupil at Francke Elementary School in Wernigerode, championed during the charity run organized by her school. The students were encouraged to find sponsors who would support their athletic efforts with a donation to the school.
Working Together to Promote Physical Activity and Sports
Christina reached out to Katronic with her request, and it quickly became clear to us: We’re happy to support this cause! After all, physical activity and the joy of sports are essential components of a healthy and active daily life, especially for children. We’re all the more pleased to support Christina’s efforts and thereby contribute to this wonderful initiative. The charity run was planned and carried out jointly by the entire teaching staff and the administration of Francke Elementary School. The event was superbly organized and tailored to the children with great dedication. It was particularly impressive to see how enthusiastically the children had sought out their own sponsors in the run-up to the event. To do so, they reached out to family members, friends, and other supporters, thereby taking responsibility for their joint school project themselves.
Due to weather conditions, the charity run scheduled for October 8, 2026, was moved up at the last minute from 10:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to take advantage of a rain-free window. Despite the last-minute change, more than 163 children from all grades took part. The running course wound through the school grounds and was laid out so that one lap was 400 meters long. Water stations provided refreshments for the children, while musical accompaniment offered additional motivation. For Christina, the daughter of a Katronic employee, Katronic had pledged a donation of ten euros per lap run. As an added incentive: if she could keep going for the full 45 minutes, the amount per lap would double. And Christina did it! She ran for the full 45 minutes, completing eleven laps—a total of about 4.4 kilometers. This turned the initial 110 euros into a donation of 220 euros for Francke Elementary School. In addition, Christina was able to raise another 105 euros from family members who sponsored her, bringing her total to the impressive sum of 325 euros for the school.
The school plans to use the donations to further expand its sports and physical activity program. Among other things, they plan to purchase mini-trampolines, which will be used in physical education classes and during additional activities. We at Katronic are pleased to have supported Christina in her athletic endeavor. At the same time, we would like to thank all the teachers and the administration of Francke Elementary School for their dedicated preparation, excellent organization, and the children’s great enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see how much joy and enthusiasm the children brought to the event—both during the run itself and while seeking out their sponsors. We wish Francke Elementary School much joy with the new sports equipment and hope Christina continues to have fun with exercise and sports!
