Data collection on our website

Who is responsible for data collection on this website?

Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find their contact details in the legal notice on this website.

How do we collect your data?

Your data is collected, on the one hand, when you provide it to us. This may include, for example, data that you enter into a contact form.

Other data is collected automatically or, with your consent, by our IT systems when you visit the website. This consists primarily of technical data (e.g. internet browser, operating system or time of page view). This data is collected automatically as soon as you access this website.

What do we use your data for?

Some of the data is collected to ensure the website functions correctly. Other data may be used to analyse your user behaviour.

What rights do you have regarding your data?

You have the right at any time to obtain, free of charge, information about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request the rectification or erasure of this data. If you have given your consent to data processing, you may withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right, under certain circumstances, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority.

You may contact us at any time at the address given in the legal notice regarding this matter or any other questions relating to data protection.

Where consent has been sought, processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and Section 25(1) of the TDDDG, insofar as the consent covers the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TDDDG. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Our hosting provider(s) will only process your data to the extent necessary to fulfil their service obligations and will comply with our instructions regarding this data.

Conclusion of a data processing agreement

To ensure that processing complies with data protection regulations, we have entered into a data processing agreement with these service providers.

If you make a legitimate request for erasure or withdraw your consent to data processing, your data will be erased, provided we have no other legally permissible grounds for storing your personal data (e.g. retention periods under tax or commercial law); in the latter case, the data will be deleted once these grounds no longer apply.

Withdrawal of your consent to data processing

Many data processing operations are only possible with your explicit consent. You may withdraw any consent you have already given at any time. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out prior to the withdrawal remains unaffected by the withdrawal.

If you request the direct transfer of the data to another data controller, this will only take place to the extent that it is technically feasible.

SSL or TLS encryption

This website uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or enquiries that you send to us as the website operator. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address bar of your browser changes from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’ and by the padlock icon in your browser bar.

When SSL or TLS encryption is enabled, the data you send to us cannot be read by third parties.

Access, erasure and rectification

In accordance with the applicable legal provisions, you have the right at any time to obtain, free of charge, information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients, and the purpose of the data processing, and, where applicable, the right to have this data rectified or erased. • If the processing of your personal data has been or is being carried out unlawfully, you may request the restriction of data processing instead of erasure.

  • If we no longer require your personal data, but you require it to exercise, defend or assert legal claims, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data instead of erasure.

  • If you have lodged an objection under Article 21(1) of the GDPR, a balancing of interests between yours and ours must be carried out. Until it has been determined whose interests prevail, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.

If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, such data – apart from its storage – may only be processed with your consent or for the purposes of asserting, exercise or defence of legal claims, or to protect the rights of another natural or legal person, or for reasons of an important public interest of the European Union or a Member State.

4. Data collection on this website

Cookies

Our website uses so-called ‘cookies’. Cookies are small text files and do not cause any damage to your device. They are stored on your device either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (permanent cookies). Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Permanent cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them yourself or your web browser deletes them automatically.

In some cases, cookies from third-party companies may also be stored on your device when you visit our site (third-party cookies). These enable us or you to use certain services provided by the third-party company (e.g. cookies for processing payment services).

Cookies serve various purposes. Many cookies are technically necessary, as certain website functions would not work without them (e.g. the shopping basket function or the display of videos). Other cookies are used to analyse user behaviour or to display advertising.

Cookies that are required to carry out the electronic communication process (necessary cookies), to provide specific functions you have requested (functional cookies, e.g. for the shopping basket function) or to optimise the website (e.g. cookies for measuring website traffic) are stored on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, unless another legal basis is specified. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing cookies to ensure the technically fault-free and optimised provision of its services. Where consent to the storage of cookies has been sought, the relevant cookies are stored exclusively on the basis of this consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR); consent may be withdrawn at any time.

You can configure your browser so that you are notified when cookies are set and can choose to allow cookies only on a case-by-case basis, to block the acceptance of cookies in specific cases or generally, and to enable the automatic deletion of cookies when you close your browser. Disabling cookies may restrict the functionality of this website.

Where cookies are used by third parties or for analytical purposes, we will inform you of this separately within this privacy policy and, where necessary, seek your consent.

Server log files

The website provider automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These include:

  • browser type and version

  • Operating system used

  • Referrer URL

  • Host name of the accessing computer

  • Time of the server request

  • IP address

This data is not combined with other data sources.

This data is collected on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in ensuring the technically error-free display and optimisation of its website – to this end, the server log files must be recorded.

Contact form

If you send us enquiries via the contact form, the details you provide in the enquiry form – including the contact details you have entered there – will be stored by us for the purpose of processing your enquiry and in the event of any follow-up questions. We will not pass on this data without your consent.

The processing of this data is based on Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR, provided that your enquiry relates to the performance of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective handling of enquiries addressed to us (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR) or on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR), provided that this has been requested.

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you request its deletion, withdraw your consent to its storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. once your enquiry has been dealt with). Mandatory legal provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.

Enquiries by email, telephone or fax

If you contact us by email, telephone or fax, your enquiry, including all personal data contained therein (name, enquiry), will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of dealing with your request.

The data you send to us via contact enquiries will remain with us until you request its deletion, withdraw your consent to its storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. once your enquiry has been fully processed). Mandatory legal provisions – in particular statutory retention periods – remain unaffected.

Registration on this website

You can register on this website to use additional features on the site. We use the data you provide for this purpose solely for the purpose of using the specific offer or service for which you have registered. The mandatory details requested during registration must be provided in full. Otherwise, we will refuse the registration.

In the event of significant changes, such as to the scope of the service or technically necessary changes, we will use the email address provided during registration to inform you accordingly.

The data provided during registration is processed for the purpose of fulfilling the user relationship established by the registration and, where applicable, to initiate further contracts (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR).

We will store the data collected during registration for as long as you remain registered on this website, after which it will be deleted. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

5. Our own services

Handling of applicant data

We offer you the opportunity to apply for a job with us (e.g. by email, post or via the online application form). Below, we provide information on the scope, purpose and use of your personal data collected as part of the application process. We assure you that the collection, processing and use of your data are carried out in accordance with applicable data protection law and all other statutory provisions, and that your data will be treated as strictly confidential.

Scope and purpose of data collection

When you submit an application to us, we process your associated personal data (e.g. contact and communication details, application documents, notes taken during interviews, etc.) to the extent necessary to decide whether to enter into an employment relationship. The legal basis for this is Section 26 of the new Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG-neu) under German law (initiation of an employment relationship), Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (general pre-contractual processing) and – provided you have given your consent – Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time. Your personal data will be disclosed within our company exclusively to those persons involved in processing your application.

If your application is successful, the data you have submitted will be stored in our data processing systems on the basis of Section 26 of the BDSG-neu and Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR for the purpose of carrying out the employment relationship.

Data retention period

If we are unable to make you a job offer, if you decline a job offer or if you withdraw your application, we reserve the right to retain the data you have provided on the basis of our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR) for up to 6 months from the end of the application process (rejection or withdrawal of the application). The data will then be deleted and the physical application documents destroyed. The data is retained in particular for evidential purposes in the event of a legal dispute. If it is apparent that the data will be required after the expiry of the 6-month period (e.g. due to an imminent or pending legal dispute), the data will not be deleted until the purpose for its continued retention no longer applies.

Data may also be retained for a longer period if you have given your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR) or if statutory retention obligations prevent deletion.

Inclusion in the candidate pool

If we do not make you a job offer, there may be the option of adding you to our candidate pool. If you are added to the pool, all documents and details from your application will be transferred to the candidate pool so that we can contact you should suitable vacancies arise.

Inclusion in the candidate pool is based solely on your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). Giving consent is voluntary and is not linked to the current application process. The data subject may withdraw their consent at any time. In this case, the data will be irrevocably deleted from the candidate pool, provided there are no legal grounds for retention.

Data from the candidate pool will be irrevocably deleted no later than two years after consent is given.

6. Analytics tools and advertising

Google Analytics

This website uses features of the web analytics service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Analytics enables the website operator to analyse the behaviour of website visitors. In doing so, the website operator receives various usage data, such as page views, time spent on the site, operating systems used and the user’s location. Where applicable, Google may compile this data into a profile associated with the respective user or their device.

Google Analytics uses technologies that enable the user to be recognised for the purpose of analysing user behaviour (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). The information collected by Google regarding the use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

The use of this analytics tool is based on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both its website and its advertising. Where consent has been sought (e.g. consent to the storage of cookies), processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR; consent may be withdrawn at any time.

IP anonymisation

We have enabled the IP anonymisation feature on this website. This means that your IP address is truncated by Google within Member States of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with other data held by Google.

Browser plug-in

You can prevent Google from collecting and processing your data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available via the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Further information on how Google Analytics handles user data can be found in Google’s privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de.

Data processing on behalf of a client

We have entered into a data processing agreement with Google and fully comply with the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

Demographic features in Google Analytics

This website uses the ‘demographic features’ function of Google Analytics to display relevant adverts to website visitors within the Google advertising network. This enables reports to be generated that contain information on the age, gender and interests of site visitors. This data is derived from Google’s interest-based advertising and from visitor data provided by third parties. This data cannot be attributed to any specific individual. You can disable this feature at any time via the ad settings in your Google Account, or generally prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data as described in the section ‘Objecting to data collection’.

Retention period

Data stored by Google at user and event level that is linked to cookies, user identifiers (e.g. User ID) or advertising IDs (e.g. DoubleClick cookies, Android Advertising ID) are anonymised or deleted after 14 months. Further details can be found at the following link: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7667196?hl=de

7. Plugins and tools

Google Web Fonts (locally hosted)

This site uses so-called web fonts, provided by Google, to ensure a consistent display of fonts. The Google Fonts are installed locally. No connection is made to Google’s servers.

Further information on Google Web Fonts can be found at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de.

Google Maps

This website uses the Google Maps mapping service. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

In order to use the functions of Google Maps, it is necessary to store your IP address. This information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. The provider of this website has no influence over this data transfer.

The use of Google Maps is in the interests of presenting our online services in an appealing manner and ensuring that the locations specified on our website can be easily found. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Where consent has been sought, processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR; consent may be withdrawn at any time.

LinkedIn

This site uses components provided by LinkedIn Corporation. LinkedIn is an internet-based social network that enables users to connect with existing business contacts and establish new business contacts. Over 400 million registered users utilise LinkedIn in more than 200 countries. This makes LinkedIn currently the largest platform for business contacts and one of the most visited websites in the world.

LinkedIn is operated by LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. LinkedIn Ireland, Privacy Policy Issues, Wilton Plaza, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland, is responsible for data protection matters outside the USA.

Each time our website, which features a LinkedIn component (LinkedIn plug-in), is accessed, this component causes the browser used by the data subject to download a corresponding representation of the LinkedIn component. Further information on the LinkedIn plug-ins can be found at https://developer.linkedin.com/plugins. As part of this technical process, LinkedIn becomes aware of which specific subpage of our website is being visited by the data subject.

Provided the data subject is logged into LinkedIn at the same time, LinkedIn recognises which specific subpage of our website the data subject is visiting each time they access our website and throughout the entire duration of their visit to our website. This information is collected by the LinkedIn component and linked by LinkedIn to the data subject’s respective LinkedIn account. If the data subject clicks on a LinkedIn button integrated into our website, LinkedIn links this information to the data subject’s personal LinkedIn user account and stores this personal data.

LinkedIn always receives information via the LinkedIn component that the data subject has visited our website if the data subject is logged into LinkedIn at the same time as accessing our website; this occurs regardless of whether the data subject clicks on the LinkedIn component or not. If the data subject does not wish this information to be transmitted to LinkedIn, they can prevent such transmission by logging out of their LinkedIn account before visiting our website.

LinkedIn offers the option to unsubscribe from email messages, text messages and targeted adverts, as well as to manage advert settings, at https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls. LinkedIn also uses partners such as Quantcast, Google Analytics, BlueKai, DoubleClick, Nielsen, Comscore, Eloqua and Lotame, which may set cookies. Such cookies can be opted out of at https://www.linkedin.com/legal/cookie-policy. LinkedIn’s current privacy policy is available at https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy. LinkedIn’s cookie policy is available at https://www.linkedin.com/legal/cookie-policy.

YouTube

This site uses components from YouTube. YouTube is an online video portal that enables video publishers to upload video clips free of charge and allows other users to view, rate and comment on them, also free of charge. YouTube permits the publication of all types of videos, which is why complete films and television programmes, as well as music videos, trailers and user-generated videos, are available via the internet portal.

YouTube is operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland.

Each time a user accesses one of the individual pages of this website – which is operated by the data controller and on which a YouTube component (YouTube video) has been integrated, the web browser on the data subject’s IT system is automatically prompted by the respective YouTube component to download a display of the corresponding YouTube component from YouTube. Further information on YouTube can be found at https://www.youtube.com/intl/ALL_de/howyoutubeworks/. As part of this technical process, YouTube and Google become aware of which specific subpage of our website is being visited by the data subject.

If the data subject is logged into YouTube at the same time, YouTube recognises which specific subpage of our website the data subject is visiting when a subpage containing a YouTube video is accessed. This information is collected by YouTube and Google and associated with the data subject’s respective YouTube account.

YouTube and Google always receive information via the YouTube component that the data subject has visited our website if the data subject is logged into YouTube at the same time as accessing our website; this occurs regardless of whether the data subject clicks on a YouTube video or not. If the data subject does not wish this information to be transmitted to YouTube and Google, they can prevent such transmission by logging out of their YouTube account before accessing our website.

The privacy policy published by YouTube, which is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de&gl=de, provides information on the collection, processing and use of personal data by YouTube and Google.

Facebook

This site uses components provided by Facebook. Facebook is a social network.

A social network is a social meeting place operated on the internet, an online community that generally enables users to communicate with one another and interact in a virtual space. A social network can serve as a platform for exchanging opinions and experiences, or enable the online community to share personal or business-related information. Among other things, Facebook allows users of the social network to create private profiles, upload photos and connect with others via friend requests.

Facebook is operated by Facebook, Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA. Where a data subject resides outside the USA or Canada, the data controller responsible for the processing of personal data is Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland.

Each time a user visits one of the individual pages of this website – which is operated by the data controller and on which a Facebook component (Facebook plug-in) has been integrated, the web browser on the data subject’s IT system is automatically prompted by the respective Facebook component to download a representation of the corresponding Facebook component from Facebook. A complete overview of all Facebook plug-ins can be found at https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/?locale=de_DE. As part of this technical process, Facebook becomes aware of which specific subpage of our website is being visited by the data subject.

Provided the data subject is logged into Facebook at the same time, Facebook recognises, each time the data subject accesses our website and throughout the entire duration of their visit to our website, which specific subpage of our website the data subject is visiting. This information is collected by the Facebook component and linked by Facebook to the data subject’s respective Facebook account. If the data subject clicks on one of the Facebook buttons integrated into our website – for example, the ‘Like’ button – or posts a comment, Facebook associates this information with the data subject’s personal Facebook user account and stores this personal data.

Facebook always receives information via the Facebook component that the data subject has visited our website if the data subject is logged into Facebook at the same time as accessing our website; this occurs regardless of whether the data subject clicks on the Facebook component or not. If the data subject does not wish such information to be transmitted to Facebook, they can prevent this by logging out of their Facebook account before visiting our website.

Facebook’s privacy policy, which is available at https://de-de.facebook.com/about/privacy/, provides information on the collection, processing and use of personal data by Facebook. It also explains the settings options Facebook offers to protect the data subject’s privacy. In addition, various applications are available that make it possible to prevent data from being transmitted to Facebook. The data subject may use such applications to prevent data from being transmitted to Facebook.

Twitter (X)

This site uses components from Twitter (X). Twitter (X) is a multilingual, publicly accessible microblogging service on which users can publish and share so-called ‘tweets’, i.e. short messages limited to 280 characters. The tweets are displayed to the user’s so-called followers. Followers are other Twitter (X) users who follow a user’s tweets. Furthermore, Twitter (X) enables users to reach a wide audience via hashtags, links or retweets.

The operating company is Twitter International Unlimited Company, One Cumberland Place, Fenian Street, Dublin 2, D02 AX07, Ireland.

Each time a user accesses one of the individual pages of this website – which is operated by the data controller and on which a Twitter (X) component (Twitter button) has been integrated – the web browser on the data subject’s IT system is automatically prompted by the relevant Twitter (X) component to download a display of the corresponding Twitter (X) component from Twitter (X). As part of this technical process, Twitter (X) becomes aware of which specific subpage of our website is being visited by the data subject. The purpose of integrating the Twitter (X) component is to enable our users to share the content of this website, to raise the profile of this website in the digital world and to increase our visitor numbers.

If the data subject is logged into Twitter (X) at the same time, Twitter (X) recognises, each time the data subject visits our website and throughout the duration of their visit to our website, which specific subpage of our website the data subject is visiting. This information is collected by the Twitter (X) component and linked by Twitter (X) to the data subject’s respective Twitter (X) account. If the data subject clicks on one of the Twitter (X) buttons integrated into our website, the data and information transmitted in this way are associated with the data subject’s personal Twitter (X) user account and are stored and processed by Twitter (X).

Twitter (X) always receives information via the Twitter (X) component that the data subject has visited our website if the data subject is logged into Twitter (X) at the same time as accessing our website; this occurs regardless of whether the data subject clicks on the Twitter (X) component or not. If the data subject does not wish such information to be transmitted to Twitter (X), they can prevent this by logging out of their Twitter (X) account before visiting our website.

Twitter’s current privacy policy is available at https://twitter.com/privacy?lang=de.

Xing

This site uses components from Xing. Xing is an internet-based social network that enables users to connect with existing business contacts and establish new business contacts. Individual users can create a personal profile on Xing. Companies can, for example, create company profiles or publish job vacancies on Xing.

Xing is operated by XING SE, Dammtorstraße 30, 20354 Hamburg, Germany.

Each time a user accesses one of the individual pages of this website – which is operated by the data controller and on which a Xing component (Xing plug-in) has been integrated, the internet browser on the data subject’s IT system is automatically prompted by the respective Xing component to download a display of the corresponding Xing component from Xing. Further information on the Xing plug-ins can be found at https://dev.xing.com/plugins. As part of this technical process, Xing becomes aware of which specific subpage of our website is being visited by the data subject.

Provided the data subject is logged into Xing at the same time, Xing recognises, each time the data subject accesses our website and throughout the duration of their visit to our website, which specific subpage of our website the data subject is visiting. This information is collected by the Xing component and assigned by Xing to the data subject’s respective Xing account. If the data subject clicks on one of the Xing buttons integrated into our website, such as the ‘Share’ button, Xing associates this information with the data subject’s personal Xing user account and stores this personal data.

Xing always receives information via the Xing component that the data subject has visited our website if the data subject is logged into Xing at the same time as accessing our website; this occurs regardless of whether the data subject clicks on the Xing component or not. If the data subject does not wish this information to be transmitted to Xing, they can prevent such transmission by logging out of their Xing account before visiting our website.

The privacy policy published by Xing, which is available at https://www.xing.com/privacy, provides information on the collection, processing and use of personal data by Xing. Furthermore, Xing has published a privacy notice for the XING Share button at https://www.xing.com/app/share?op=data_protection.
