Energy Savings at the Hospital Thanks to Heat Meters
PA Energy, a London-based water and energy utility, selected Katronic measurement systems to monitor energy consumption at the East London University Hospital.
Continuous Heat Metering for Greater Energy Efficiency in Hospitals
Hospitals consume large amounts of gas and electricity, primarily due to their HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, and therefore have a strong interest in saving energy.
Katronic’s non-invasive heat meters are easy to install and set up, offering portable solutions for flow control or fixed installations for continuous monitoring of key areas. With the addition of PT100 temperature sensors, both heat energy and flow measurements can be performed simultaneously.
PA Energy monitored the hot water supply within the hospital using KATflow systems with wireless data acquisition, which were connected to the hospital’s main consumption meters. The systems from PA Energy and Katronic enabled the client to quickly identify areas with high energy consumption and abnormal water usage.
