Cooling of Geological Core Samples
Katronic supplied a stationary KATflow 100 to Geotek for the analysis and monitoring of the cooling circuit for rock samples.
KATflow 100 Monitors Cooling Circuits During Geological Core Analysis
Katronic supplied a KATflow 100 non-invasive flow meter for permanent installation to the British company Geotek, which is dedicated to the worldwide collection and analysis of geological core samples for research and industry. From marine and climate research to nuclear waste disposal, Geotek examines all types of sediments and rocks—primarily those that have been authorized for extraction—and has been providing core analysis, measurement services, and equipment for more than 20 years.
To examine certain types of cores, they must be kept under pressure at low temperatures prior to analysis to maintain their stability. The KATflow 100 is perfectly suited for monitoring the cooling circuit, which can be in operation anywhere from the Arctic to the South China Sea. Thanks to the instrument’s simple installation and setup—which preserves process integrity—the KATflow 100 is the ideal solution for the high pressures found in the cooling circuit.
