Team Katronic Get “Pretty Muddy” for Cancer Charity

A team from Katronic Technologies took time away from flowmeters in order to participate in the Pretty Muddy event for Cancer Research UK

The group of Jacqueline Marajh, Catherine Naughton, Selina Birdi and Alice Armstrong wanted to raise awareness for the work being done to combat cancer and to raise funds through sponsorship.

The event is organised by Cancer Research UK and is a continuation of their massively successful Race for Life programme. The events began with the first Race for Life in 1994 in Battersea London and has now grown to encompass 12 different events over the entire country. Since the first race, the charity has raised over 490 million pounds and has been supported by over six million participants. Entrants into the event are encouraged to wear messages of support or remembrance for people in their lives who are either fighting cancer, or who sadly lost the battle.

The Pretty Muddy race chosen by the Katronic team sends runners around a 5 km course and over a series of obstacles designed to test and amuse in equal measure. As the name suggests several sections of the course, feature both water and large quantities of mud that the contestants are required to go through in a variety of different ways.

All members of the team thoroughly enjoyed the challenge with one commenting that it was “like being a child again”. Although the event is intended to be light-hearted and fun there is a serious element to things with the focus being that “Cancer Plays Dirty”. By raising funds and raising the awareness of the work done by Cancer Research UK the aim of all those attending is to Beat Cancer Sooner.

All of the staff at Katronic are very proud of the efforts made by our colleagues and were happy to support them. If you would like to help the work done by Cancer Research UK and sponsor the team, you can do so at “Katronic in Pink”.
